The Difference Between Eucalyptus Coco Body Wash and Conventional Brands
Here’s why we (along with thousands of others!) love our body wash.
As you know, there are MANY options for body washes out there, each with its own qualities. So why choose our Eucalyptus Coco Body Wash, and how does it compare to its counterparts? First, we’ll compare it to a conventional body wash, and then we’ll compare it to what’s known as a clean body wash (because we’re that confident).
The lather, the cleansing agent, the thing we all expect when we use a wash
Conventional brands use a harsh, synthetic ingredient called sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS). It is often used to create a lather, but the problem is that it’s highly irritating to the skin and eyes. For people with reactive skin, sulfates may also clog pores and cause acne. If you think you have sensitive skin, you may not. It could just be an ingredient like SLS that is sensitizing your skin.
What does a clean brand use?
Most use sodium lauryl glucoside hydroxypropylsulfonate. Don’t let the name scare you – although the name has the word “sulfate” in it, it’s not the kind you’re thinking of (scientific names can often be long, hard, and complicated). Although this ingredient is considered a gentle and mild surfactant, there is very limited data on it. It is, however, considered a natural alternative to its irritating counterpart, but truth is, sulfates and sulfonates are cheap to produce and can potentially clean a little too well (stripping your skin of its natural oils). If you do opt for a clean body wash with this ingredient, make sure it’s well balanced with other natural/raw oils.
How is the Eucalyptus Coco Body Wash made?
We make our body wash the traditional way (without the animal fats, of course). We don’t use any sulfates or sulfonates, instead opting to use saponified coconut oil to create our rich and luxurious lather, which is also the ingredient that cleanses your skin. Coconut oil has traditionally been used to cleanse due to its lauric acid content (highly antibacterial and antifungal). So, besides using a traditional cleaning and foaming agent, what makes our body wash special? Well, we use raw, unprocessed, and unrefined oils. This is why our body wash not only cleanses your skin but also moisturizes, never stripping your skin of its natural oils, and leaving you with nothing but clean, nourished, soft skin.
