WILD Natural Skincare

ABOUT WILD NATURAL SKIN CARE

We bottled  the Great Bear Rainforest and created WILD natural skin care.

Wild Skin Care captures the essence of  the coastal mountains and fjords of the ancient Great Bear Rainforest in the summer The giant cedars hugging the isolated beaches, waves crashing in off the Pacific touched with Southeasterly winds caressing the shore. In the distant West, through the morning fog; the lush, green islands of Haida Gwaii; home to the mighty Haida Nation. Summer in the rainforest.... Wild draws you in.

Be the Adventure. Be Wild

We live here, work here and explore here. The area in steeped in the ancient culture of the First Nations who have lived here for millennia. We want to share our experiences in this dynamic, amazing ecosystem of people and nature. This is the Rainforest in our back yard and Wild is made with plants and botanicals sustainably harvested here. Our challenge is to sustainably harvest 100% of our ingredients here, to be a meaningful part of our community, and for you to experience this with us as we grow!

INGREDIENTS USED:

Kelp Ferment
Chamomile Extract
Rosehip Fruit Oil
Labrador Tea Oil

BLADDERWRACK EXTRACT:
Bladderwrack is a seaweed found throughout the B.C. Coast.
We use it in our products as an anti-inflammatory to soothe the skin. Bladderwrack is packed with B-Complex vitamins, calcium, iodine, iron, magnesium, potassium, sodium, sulfur and silicon. It also contains carotene, selenium, zinc and small amounts of Vitamins A, C and E which are attributed to its anti-aging and healing properties.

This combinations of vitamins and minerals nourish dehydrated, mature skin, improve skin tone, texture and elasticity.

LABRADOR TEA
Labrador Tea grows in the muskeg bogs of the Great Bear Rainforest. It’s our core ingredient and we wild harvest it sustainably to ensure that we can go back into the same areas year after year.
This plant isn’t widely used in the skin care industry and we are aware of only one other skin care manufacturer in Canada that utilizes it in skin care products. This is likely because the plant does not yield a high volume of essential oil when it is distilled.
The plants are packed with tannins, sesquiterpenes (a hydrocarbon), numerous mineral salts and Vitamin C, all of which combine to give it astringent and extremely potent antioxidant properties. It is fabulous in the treatment of skin irritation and inflammation, and as an antioxidant it works to combat free radicals caused by pollution and UV rays.
Tests of Labrador Tea have proven that it is 20 times more potent than Idebenone* and 3 times more active than Vitamin C and grape seed extract in combating free radicals.

*Idebenone is the bio-engineered cousin of the vital human antioxidant enzyme – CoEnzyme Q10, and up to 1000x more effective. It is described as a “Super CoQ10″. It is designed to deliver a level of skin rejuvenation that you cannot get from AHA, Vitamin A, Vitamin C.

ROSEHIP OIL
Rosehip Oil is a natural source of essential fatty acids, Vitamin E, Vitamin C and B-carotene - a form of Vitamin A. Essential fatty acids are emollients which aid in improving skin flexibility and permeability. Emollients also aid in skin repair. Vitamin A may also play a part in rose hip oil’s effect on scar tissue due to its ability to improve skin texture and tone.
Rosehip’s antioxidants are particularly effective as the oil readily penetrates deep into the skin due to the small Vitamin A molecules.
The Vitamin C antioxidants aid in stimulating collagen production and the Vitamin A works to improve skin’s moisture levels and thereby helps to reduce fine lines and wrinkles.

UV rays cause sun damage to skin and cause photo aging. The damage varies from wrinkles, to spots, to patchy discoloration. Rose Hip Oil seems to combat the damage; antioxidants and Vitamin A combined with the oil's essential fatty acids help to improve skin tone, texture and pigmentation. Vitamin C helps to counteract decreased collagen in the skin caused by sun exposure.

CEDAR LEAF OIL
We use Cedar Leaf Oil as a scent for our products. The combination of Labrador Tea and Cedar Leaf Oil creates the fresh, unique scent of the Wild product line.
Cedar Oil is used as both an antibacterial product and an astringent in skin care applications.
